Nathan believes that every person is the only true expert on their life and experiences within it. Through this lens, he meets the client where they are in their life journey to develop a therapeutic relationship that allows for healing and growth. Nathan is passionate about creating an environment that is collaborative and judgement free, which allows each client to be seen and creates a space where they can feel safe, accepted, and understood.

Nathan approaches each client placing emphasis on understanding their background and values, as they shape their perception on life. With this better understanding, Nathan guides his clients through self-discovery which supports the healing and growth process. His therapeutic approach is grounded in evidenced-based treatments but would be considered an integrative approach, with an emphasis on CBT. For couples work Nathan utilizes his certifications in The Gottman Method, which focuses on building stronger relationships through improving communication, resolving conflict and strengthening of emotional bonds. He strives to create a therapeutic environment that is warm, collaborative and judgement free, which allows you to be seen and comfortable in discussing internal thoughts and feelings. This accommodates each individuals’ or couples unique circumstances and goals. Nathan’s goal is to help you better understand yourself to heal from past experiences while simultaneously growing for your future.

About Nathan

Throughout his time serving in the Washington National Guard, Nathan has had the privilege of leading Soldiers in various roles as a military leader, the COO/CEO of a national nonprofit VSO, and as the Primary Prevention Coordinator for the state of Washington. Each of these experiences deepened his understanding of the urgent need for mental health support across all walks of life.

After returning from deployment in 2022, Nathan made the decision to transition into a career as a counseling psychologist, driven by a profound commitment to helping others navigate life’s challenges. He brings lived experience, education, compassion, and deep empathy into every session, creating a space where individuals feel heard and supported.

For more than a decade, Nathan has worked closely with veterans and first responders, understanding firsthand the complexities of their lives. He has also walked through the joys and struggles of marriage, including the emotional impact of infertility and loss through multiple miscarriages.

At the heart of it all, Nathan is a devoted father to his 10-year-old daughter, his greatest source of pride. When he’s not immersed in clinical work or research, you’ll find him embracing the simple joys of life, losing himself in music or casting a line from his kayak, seeking peace on the water.
