Multicultural Relationships

Aslan understands that people often come to therapy after they have already tried many ways to make things better. Her style is warm and compassionate while also active, practical, and engaged. She works collaboratively with clients to understand the patterns contributing to their distress, develop new ways of responding, and create meaningful changes in their relationships and lives.

When your relationship is struggling, it can begin to affect nearly every part of your life. You may feel as though every important conversation turns into an argument, or you may have stopped talking about difficult things altogether. Some couples find themselves becoming increasingly distant, lonely, or resentful despite still caring deeply about each other. Others know that something needs to change but have been unable to change it on their own.

Aslan helps couples better understand what is happening beneath these patterns of conflict and disconnection. She works with partners to identify the emotions and needs that can become difficult to express when a relationship is under stress, while helping them develop more effective ways to communicate, resolve conflict, and respond to each other.

Her work is not limited to helping couples communicate better. Aslan helps partners understand how their individual experiences and relationship patterns interact, so they can begin changing the cycle rather than continuing to blame each other for it. Her goal is to help couples feel more understood and secure with one another while building the skills needed to create a healthier and more connected relationship.

Aslan works with couples at many stages of their relationships, including premarital couples, long-term partners and spouses, parents and co-parents, and couples navigating changes in emotional or sexual intimacy.

Infidelity, Betrayal & Rebuilding Trust

Discovering an affair or another significant betrayal can profoundly disrupt your sense of safety in a relationship. You may find yourself replaying what happened, questioning what you believed about your relationship, or feeling overwhelmed by anger, grief, fear, and uncertainty. The partner who caused the hurt may also feel unsure how to respond without becoming defensive, shutting down, or making things worse.

Aslan helps individuals and couples navigate the painful aftermath of infidelity and broken trust. Early therapy may focus on helping clients manage overwhelming emotions, make sense of what has happened, establish appropriate boundaries, and begin communicating in ways that do not continually deepen the injury.

Ignoring what happened and rushing toward forgiveness are not part of the healing process. When partners want to repair their relationship, Aslan helps them understand the impact of the betrayal, develop greater emotional safety, and work gradually toward rebuilding trust and connection. She recognizes that this process takes time and helps couples approach it with honesty, compassion, and realistic expectations.

When You’re Not Sure Whether to Stay

Sometimes couples come to therapy knowing they want to repair their relationship. Other times, one or both partners are no longer sure.

You may feel torn between wanting to save the relationship and wondering whether too much has happened. One partner may be considering separation while the other desperately wants to make things work. Trying to make such an important decision while experiencing conflict, fear, anger, or pressure from each other can leave both partners feeling even more confused.

Aslan is trained in Discernment Counseling, a specialized approach for couples when one partner is considering ending the relationship and there is uncertainty about whether couples therapy is the right next step. Rather than pressuring couples toward staying together or separating, she helps each partner develop greater clarity about what has happened in the relationship, their own contributions to its difficulties, and the choices available to them.

The goal is not to decide for you. It is to help you make a thoughtful and informed decision about what comes next.

Individual Therapy

Relationship difficulties do not only happen between partners. Anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, low self-esteem, and major life transitions can affect how you experience yourself and the people closest to you. At other times, a painful relationship experience may be the reason you are struggling in the first place.

Aslan provides individual therapy for adults who want to better understand what they are experiencing and begin making changes that feel difficult to make alone. She helps clients identify patterns that may be contributing to distress, strengthen emotional regulation and coping skills, communicate their needs more effectively, and make decisions that are consistent with their values and goals.

Her approach is supportive without being passive. Aslan believes feeling understood is important, but therapy should also help you move toward meaningful change.

Aslan’s Approach to Therapy

Aslan brings warmth, curiosity, and respect to her work while taking an active role in the therapeutic process. She recognizes that clients may need compassion and support during painful moments, but they may also need a therapist who is willing to identify difficult patterns, ask thoughtful questions, and help them practice new ways of responding.

Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and utilizes principles and interventions from the Gottman Method, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and attachment theory. Her clinical work is tailored to build emotional awareness, clear communication, practical skills, and a deeper understanding of the patterns that shape relationships.

Before entering the mental health field, Aslan developed a professional background in legal studies and remains involved with professional organizations related to mediation and collaborative practice. This perspective complements her clinical work with couples and families navigating conflict, difficult decisions, co-parenting concerns, and major relationship transitions.

Aslan has completed Level 2 training in the Gottman Method and holds a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. She provides in-person therapy at Pacific Behavioral Healthcare’s Bellevue office and telehealth therapy for clients throughout Washington.
