Elizabeth Berman’s availability for new clients begins September 28th.
Elizabeth is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who specializes in helping couples and individuals overcome some of the most painful and complex relationship problems they will ever encounter. She specializes in areas such as betrayal trauma, recovery from affairs, discernment counseling, relationships involving neurodivergent people, substance use disorders, and the emotional and relational changes that commonly occur during perimenopause and postmenopause.
The clients that Elizabeth works with often come to therapy feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure about the future of their relationship. In cases where trust has been destroyed because of infidelity, communication has declined into arguments, intimacy has diminished, or changes in life have caused unforeseen strain, she offers a calm, compassionate, and well-organized environment in which clients feel that they are understood, respected, and supported as they work on their healing.
Elizabeth holds the view that healthy relationships are based on emotional safety, trust, vulnerability, and a true connection. She uses an attachment-based, trauma-informed, and strength-focused approach, incorporating evidence-based therapies which are carefully adapted to suit each client’s individual situation rather than sticking to a one-size-fits-all approach. She assists clients in understanding the deeper patterns that underlie their difficulties while helping them develop practical skills which encourage better communication, emotional security, resilience, and sustainable change.
She knows that relationship problems are usually caused by more than one factor. Trauma, neurodivergence, addiction, hormonal changes, chronic stress, and years of accumulated misunderstandings can all influence the way partners relate to each other. Together with her clients, Elizabeth works to break the harmful cycles, rebuild trust, restore both emotional and physical intimacy, and establish relationships which feel secure, genuine, and deeply satisfying.
Elizabeth believes that even relationships experiencing profound pain can heal. She assists individuals and couples in moving beyond a state of mere survival by fostering compassion, showing curiosity, and providing evidence-based guidance to achieve a deeper understanding, a renewed sense of connection, and meaningful, lasting transformation.
