Evan firmly believes that we are always capable of forging a life that is meaningful, enriching, and healthy. Life is full of circumstances that we cannot control, which can lead to feelings of frustration, helplessness, and hopelessness. Evan works with individuals and partners to identify proactive, tangible steps that they can take to heal and get on with the business of living their lives, pursuing their goals, and finding joy and fulfillment.

Evan uses empirically supported therapies and techniques to support his clients’ growth and well-being, including techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). When working with couples, Evan draws from Gottman Couples Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy to help clients navigate conflict, communication challenges, relational rifts, and individual well-being.

Evan understands that each client’s individual history, experiences, and values inform both their present circumstances and the strategies that are most likely to help them. As such, Evan will listen carefully to your story, what makes you who you are, and what you are motivated to accomplish, and will collaborate with you to craft an approach that makes sense. The core of Evan’s approach is to help clients live in greater alignment with their values by changing the way that they approach and relate to the challenges they face.

About Evan

After earning his undergraduate degree from Brown University, Evan joined the field of high tech where he worked on expanding access to technology and supporting organic online communities. Then it was time for a change. Eleven years into his professional career, Evan made the daunting but exciting decision to pursue a career as a clinical psychologist. Five years in, he has never regretted the decision. Evan loves to help clients navigate their own paths through life, recognizing that the journey is often difficult and change – especially the kind of change that brings out the best in us and the world around us – is daunting. Evan’s doctoral research has focused on understanding the factors that perpetuate anxiety and inspire a desire to change. He has practiced in a wide range of clinical settings, including private practices, inpatient hospitals, community clinics, and medical centers.  His clinical interests are broad, but tend to cluster around family systems, self-actualization and fulfillment, mindfulness, and spirituality. Evan has two daughters aged 5 and 9 who get most of their positive qualities from his wife of 14 years. Two elderly dogs round out the household. When Evan is not juggling clinical work, research, school, and family life, he occasionally still manages to go out for a run, ride his bike, read, or listen to music.
